Open Labs

Open Labs are starting again the third Wednesday of every month. The first one is Wednesday, April 21, 9 – 11am, and will include a mentor for wheel, handbuilding, and GLAZING. It’s free! You just need to sign up in the classes workshop binder.

Bring questions, a project you are working on, or any problems you are having, and the mentors will help you.

Clay Club Open Spaces – with Social Distancing

As of March 26, 2021, the Rec Centers do not mandate the use of face masks.  The Rec Centers do continue to recommend residents and employees wear masks and practice social distancing.  Plexiglass and sanitizing stations will remain in place.  The following are the guidelines provided most recently:

  • Clubs may NOT require members to wear a mask inside the Club.
  • Rooms may NOT be sectioned off as to separate those with masks and those without.
  • Club officers or Monitors may NOT ask a member if they have been vaccinated.

The Club hours are now Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday to 8 a.m. til 8 p.m.; Monday, Friday and Saturday hours to 8 a.m. til 4 p.m., which offers more work time and space allowing members to “spread out”.   There are often days with lighter usage of the Club as well, such as Tuesdays.

**As a reminder – Open space mean the following for members of the Clay Club:

  • All wheels, handbuilding tables, the glaze area and the DL Studio will be open for use six days a week.
  • No defined social distancing protocol – if members do not feel comfortable sitting close to others, they need to make the choice to use the available space or come another time.
  • Chairs and tables have been re-set as they were prior to Covid-19.
  • Signing up for workspace is no longer necessary.
  • Signing up for monitoring will continue via SignUpGenius. The monitoring calendars are NOW available on SignUpGenius with added day and time slots. Remember, if you have signed up to monitor and are unable to do so, it is your responsibility to the club to find someone to replace yourself and making sure the change is posted on SignUpGenius so we contact the correct member scheduled to monitor.
  • Everyone must continue to check in at the Monitor Station upon entering the Club.
  • A monitor must be working at the Monitor’s desk for the Club to be open.
  • Bleach water will be placed near the sinks.  No longer is the spray and dry technique on tables used at closing.
  • You may bring non-resident guests into the Club.  They will simply need to sign the log in sheet, so we know who is in the Club.  And remember, you are responsible for your guest.

As a reminder, the DLStudio often is not fully utilized when classes are not scheduled.  If you are seeking more space to work within, we suggest you check to see if this studio area is open and available for your use.

We look forward to seeing more members back in the Club enjoying our facilities!
